Updated Consistency Charts

Felt it was time to update the consistency charts that went up on the blog a bit back as we have surpassed the ten game mark that I like to include on these charts.

This edition will be a little different as I am only including the last ten games the Rangers have played, regardless of whether or not the player below played in that game. This was put in place in the honor of consistency, considering the premise of this post.

A few things I'd love to add to these charts are the player's TOI in that game, as that surely biases the % of shot attempts they can be on the ice for, as well as finding a way to call out which game is which so a player to player comparison can be made.

For now, I think these tell enough of a story of what is the Rangers D at the moment.

All stats are 5v5, provided by hockeystats.ca

Girardi is on the ice for way, way too many shots against. Does it come with the territory of logging the minutes he does comparatively? Maybe. But he's not on the ice for enough shot attempts for to outweigh that TOI bias.

Wildly inconsistent stretch from McDonagh in the Rangers past ten games.

In the 6 games Staal appeared in the Rangers last ten, he did a good job staying under 40% Corsi Against; with a couple of great games sprinkled in here.

Was really expecting so much worse from Boyle on this chart. Actually doing a great job limiting shot attempts against. Only one game over 40%, with three terrific offensive driving games in there. In terms of shot attempts, a good stretch from Boyle. His -4 earlier today against the Pens came in a game where he was on the ice for 9 of the Pens 39 shot attempts at 5v5. Unlucky?

Too many games hovering near 40% against and not nearly enough over 40% for, for a player who is here to drive offense.

Kevin Klein; easily the most consistent Rangers d-man. Night in and night out, you know what you are going to get.

Looking forward to continuing to mess with these.
